New Kind of Dahn Yoga Instructor
By Michela | July 22, 2008
Now a person who would like to teach Dahn Yoga can be trained and licensed as an instructor who can charge to teach it outside of a Dahn Yoga, Brain Respiration, or Body + Brain Center. This new type of instructor is currently known as an HSP Instructor. HSP is the acronym for Health, Smile, Peace, which is the main philosophy and goal of Dahn Yoga.
HSP Instructors will pay licensing fees and be officially certified to teach Dahn Yoga for free or a fee outside of a center. The main places they will teach class are workplaces, schools, and community and fitness centers. The licensing fees are an initial fee and then a small percentage of what they earn from teaching each month. They will also be able to earn a commission if they refer one of their students who is not already a Dahn Yoga Center member to a special Dahn workshop or program, or for a Dahn Yoga Center membership.
Other types of instructors who teach Dahn Yoga are called Dahn Instructors and Dahn Outreach Instructors. Dahn Instructors are employees of a Dahn Yoga Center who earn a salary. HSP Instructors can also be Dahn Instructors who work for a Dahn Yoga Center, but their salary is separate from the licensing fees they pay on what they earn for outside classes.
Dahn Outreach Instructors are individuals who teach free classes in conjunction with the non-profit Dahn Foundation. The pre-requisite for teaching an outreach class is taking the Shim Sung (Finding True Self) workshop and attending the outreach instructor training run by the Dahn Foundation.
Becoming licensed as an HSP Instructor gives people who would like to teach Dahn Yoga and get paid for it an avenue to do so besides working in a Dahn Yoga Center. It offers a new opportunity for more people to share HSP!

Sounds good. I went to Sedona and learned about Dahn Yoga and am interested in becoming an instructor and opening up a studio where there is no competition. I can’t seem to find a program that teaches for instruction so I can get certified etc.. Where do I go for the training?

I received a comment on our blog - www.livcheapmakeart.blogspot.com about the possibility of purchasing prints from Sicily but the person did not give me a way of getting in touch with them. Her name was Dawn and she used the name “Hawaiidahn” - I was wondering if she was connected to this blog in any way or if you can help me get in touch with her.
Thanks so much.

Hi Heather,
Thank you for writing. To become an instructor in Dahn Yoga, you need to take training at a Dahn Yoga center. The amount of training depends on the level of instructor you would like to become. If you would like to open a studio of your own, the best thing to do is to open a Body + Brain Center, which is a franchised Dahn Yoga Center.

There is specific training associated with that, some of it taking place at a Dahn Yoga center and some of it taking place at a national training center such as the Sedona Mago Retreat Center in Sedona, AZ or the Honor’s Haven Resort & Spa in Ellenville, NY.

You can also find out more about the franchise opportunity at http://www.bodynbrain.com/L3-ABOUTUS-Franchises.html.
Good luck! I’m glad you are so passionate about this practice!

Hi Rosemary,
Hawaiidahn is not associated with this particular blog, but there are Dahn Yoga centers in Hawaii so there may be someone there who goes by that ID. In fact, the Hawaii centers have their own blog: http://www.dahnyogahawaii.com/.
Also, here is the contact information for the Hawaii Centers:
