Exercise and Inspiration
By Michela | February 12, 2008
As I spend more time on the computer lately, I am learning the real value of periodically moving the rest of my body (besides my hands). The condition of my body really affects the quality of my thoughts and emotions. Then I saw this little chart in the back of Ilchi Lee’s book, The Way to Light Up Your Divinity. It gave me intellectual insight into my personal experience.
After an hour of Dahn Yoga exercise, my brain feels slower, softer, and more peaceful. I associate this with brain waves of an alpha frequency. I learned about brain wave frequencies from my biopsychology class in college and from when I assisted with sleep research one summer in college. According to the chart, beta waves are present in our brain are associated with our outer consciousness, when most people are awake. Alpha waves are associated with our inner consciousness. Most people experienced this when they are in a relaxed state, when they are just about to fall asleep completely, or as I did, after about an hour of basic Dahn exercise. The book also says it is the consciousness of artists and some “drunken people” and are associated with visions of black and white.
So by using Dahn Yoga to move my body, I am changing my brain waves and tapping into deeper parts of my consciousness. Dahn exercise can also take you to the next two levels, although with more practice and deeper exercises I think. Delta waves are associated with inner consciousness, visions of color, and dreams.Theta waves are associated with the unconscious, cosmic consciousness, the detached mind, and enlightenment. While most people experience these while they are asleep, through energy and mind training you can reach these even while you are awake and aware.

Hi Michela,
I think “The Way to Light up your Divinity” is the most authentic book in English that covers the really deep, mystical essence of Dahn. It’s my favorite. Why? It’s the one book so far where Dr.Lee’s real voice, not one that has been ‘ghostwritten,’ comes through loud and clear unscripted, unedited, passionate, practical, truthful. I feel like he’s in the room talking to us. What do you think?

I agree. “The Way to Light Up your Divinity” is a compilation of lectures by Ilchi Lee and is one of his earlier published works. I’ve learned a lot about his history and what he’s trying to share with the world from it. You can open it to any place and learn something profound
Thanks Andrew! Has anyone else read it? Would they like to share?
