• Dahn Yoga tip: Focus on Yourself

Without a goal, we have no choice but to endlessly chase after the thoughts of others. We envy those who know more or have more than we do, and we live out our lives completely forgetting our own brains. Such things happen to us often unless we are focused on ourselves. - Dahn Yoga

    Knowledge vs. Experience

    By Michela | December 13, 2007

At my Dahn Yoga center we are continually trying to help people focus inside of themselves as their primary reference point for their life. By doing this you can feel more centered and stable, even in rocky times and places, and feel connected to everything. There’s many things that prevent us from making that a habit. Sometimes it’s because focusing outside of ourselves is way more entertaining. Sometimes it’s because what we may see inside isn’t what we want to accept. Lately I’ve been frustrated when some members aren’t focusing inside themselves but think they are, and spend all of their time searching for truth, beauty, and essence everywhere else. Some of these places they search for them are very valid and wonderful such as art, nature, traveling to spiritual places, and reading inspiring books. But are they really enough by themselves? They are all expressions of what I think of as the one source of everything. But how deep can your experience of them be if you’re not connected to yourself? And really, you can even feel inspired and connected and at peace if you are in a barren room by yourself, while focusing inside. Because one thing I’ve learned through my Dahn Yoga practice is that we have everything already inside of us. Everything in the world is already a part of us. They are reflections of each other. Any feedback?

You are so perfect. Just as perfect as the day you came here as a spirit. I agree, if you go inside and see the spirit, perfect-complete-shining, you will know that all you are is quite enough. Let go and trust the universe to supply all that you require. Happens every day for me.
